GET TO KNOW US | JANE STREET
Hi, my name is Sean. I work in Jane Street’s London office on the Hospitality team, focused primarily on food service. I have been here since 2017.
WHAT MAKES FOOD SERVICE IN JANE STREET’S LONDON OFFICE UNIQUE?
We are very lucky to have a purpose-built kitchen, where all the food that we have here is freshly made. So it gives us an incredible opportunity to have a real diverse range of food. I think what also makes us unique is that we have all these very special British things like afternoon tea, elevenses, all the good stuff.
WHAT SKILLS ARE MOST IMPORTANT FOR SOMEONE ON THIS TEAM TO HAVE?
I think some of the skills that people really need to have to work in Hospitality at Jane Street are those real personable skills; the real need to want to look after people and make everyone sure they have the best day that they can in the office.
HOW CLOSELY DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH OTHER GROUPS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE OF JANE STREET?
We can’t do all this by ourselves, so we have external vendors that we work with. So myself, working with our food contractors, the team working with housekeeping and travel agents. Within the teams, we collaborate very closely with our local Hospitality team and we also collaborate with our global teams in Hong Kong, New York, Amsterdam, Singapore – making sure that we’re all aligned.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AT JANE STREET?
“What’s my favorite social activity?” is a hard one to answer given all the ones that we do have at Jane Street. I think the one I look forward to the most is the Bull & Caml, which is our monthly drinks and food event that we have in the office. So that’s just a whole office event where everyone gets together after work, lots of food, lots of drinks. It’s a really nice place to meet people.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CULTURE AT JANE STREET?
I think the culture here is something that our team particularly is very proud of. The people in the office really “make” working here. Getting to work with such a diverse and intelligent group of people is incredible and I think my favorite thing about working here is my team that I get to hangout with everyday. We don’t just do work, we have fun, we go out in the evenings so that’s a really important part for me.
