GET TO KNOW US | JANE STREET

Hello, my name is Simone and I’ve worked at Jane Street since 2013. I work in the London office within Hospitality and I focus on travel.

WHAT DOES THE HOSPITALITY TEAM DO AT JANE STREET?

The Hospitality team at Jane Street focuses on front of house, travel, food service and soft facilities. My day-to-day varies, but I spend the most of it looking after travel, which is helping Streeters get from A to B, which includes office visits, conferences and just general day-to-day travel.

WHAT BACKGROUNDS DO PEOPLE ON THE HOSPITALITY TEAM COME FROM?

The backgrounds of people within our team are varied. We have hospitality, we’ve got people from retail, we’ve had people that have worked in bars. And I think the main thing we have in common is that we’re all customer-focused and driven.

HOW CLOSELY DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH OTHER GROUPS WITHIN JANE STREET AND OUTSIDE OF THE FIRM?

I work closely with a number of different teams within Jane Street. They include the IT teams, MAC, PSOC, Recruiting, Creative Engagement, and together we try to make it a great place to work.

WHAT SKILLS ARE IMPORTANT TO HAVE ON THE HOSPITALITY TEAM?

The skill set is wide and varied. I think being personable, likable, having a good personality, feeling warm and genuine and never saying the word “no.” Always finding a reason and a way to help somebody.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CULTURE AT JANE STREET?

When people say there’s nothing like it, it’s true. It’s full of people that are intelligent and smart; everyone’s always wondering what they can do to make things better. I would say the culture is one of a kind.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT JANE STREET?

My favorite part of working within the Hospitality team is that we’re all different. Every one of us is unique. We’ve all got fun things to say, fun things to do. And whenever we’re together, we’re always thinking of ways to make each other better.

The next great idea will come from you
